The highs and lows of local news
Two headlines from the latest Buderim Weekly:
LOCAL PETITION CALLS FOR ACTION
and
LOCALS SUPPORT PHILANTHROPY
Who’da guessed?
On a more positive note, the Sunshine Coast Daily is a great small newspaper and yesterday it brought us a wonderful piece of court reporting from Rae Wilson:
During a heated yelling match, lawyer Adam Guest asked Mr Cooper whether his ‘massive discrepancy’ and ‘grossly exaggerated’ time frames meant the rest of his evidence was unreliable.
Mr Cooper said Mr Guest was arguing semantics, which led to further aggression between the pair about the definition of ’semantics’.
There ought to be a Walkley Award category to recognise that last sentence.
